History of Auburn Signs Pty Ltd - trading as
Signs, Lines 'n Scrolls
Dennis Swinnerton started his signwriting apprenticeship in 1961 with Bill Crouch of Crouch Signs in Georges Hall. He started doing signwriting work on his own account in 1963 whilst still completing his apprenticeship.
In 1971 Dennis started working for himself full time at premises in North Auburn, employing other tradesmen to help him manage the ever-growing workload. Auburn Signs incorporated as a proprietary limited company in 1978 and relocated to Regents Park.
The business continued to flourish and in 1991 it was decided that with the slow move of our customer base away from the area, a name change that was less locality defined would benefit the company. The name was changed to Signs, Lines 'n Scrolls.
With the growing size of trucks and trailers, the premises at Regents Park had become too small to accommodate a prime mover and trailer with the setup necessary to facilitate signwriting around it. In 2004 Signs relocated to a larger facility at Smeaton Grange in South-West Sydney.
The new premises has a full sized spray booth capable of accommodating a 45 foot trailer or tipping trailer plus room for a further 2 prime movers outside of the spray booth.
In 2009 Signs added a digital printer capable of printing 3.2m high truck curtains to their already extensive list of in-house services.
